Animal Welfare - It works with more than 449 member organisations to raise the standards of animal welfare throughout the world. Their vision is a world in which the welfare of animals is understood and respected by everyone, and protected by effective legislation. Through their collaborative projects it is Campaigning Against Cruelty by exposing animal abuse and enforcing stronger laws; their Animal Rescue teams are working to save abandoned or neglected animals or those stricken by disasters; and by Changing Hearts and Minds amongst people living and working with animals, it is forging a safer future for all animals.
Breast Cancer Research - For more than 20 years, it has been a global leader in the fight against breast cancer through its support of innovative research and community-based outreach programs. Working through a network of U.S. and international Affiliates, the foundation is fighting to eradicate breast cancer as a life-threatening disease by funding research grants and supporting education, screening and treatment projects in communities around the world.
Mentoring Programs - The organization's "vision is to bring successful mentoring relationships to all children who need and want them, contributing to brighter futures, better schools, and stronger communities for all. Founded in 1904, it one of the oldest and largest youth mentoring organization in the United States. In 2002, the organization served more than 200,000 youth ages five through 18, in 5,000 communities across the country.. National research has shown that the positive relationships between mentors and children have a direct, measurable, and lasting impact on childrens lives."
World Medical Relief - "delivers emergency aid to victims of armed conflict, epidemics, and natural and man-made disasters, and to others who lack health care due to social or geographical isolation. It provides primary health care, performs surgery, rehabilitates hospitals and clinics, runs nutrition and sanitation programs, trains local medical personnel, and provides mental health care. Through longer-term programs, it treats chronic diseases such as tuberculosis, malaria, sleeping sickness, and AIDS; assists with the medical and psychological problems of marginalized populations including street children and ethnic minorities; and brings health care to remote, isolated areas where resources and training are limited."
